Triangles and its properties

There are basically six different types of triangles with respect to the length and measure of the lines and angles of a triangle, To recall, a triangle is a specific type of polygon having only three sides and three angles.

Six Types of Triangles

Triangles can be broadly classified into two types,

1)Triangles based on their sides

2)Triangles based on their angles

Triangles based on their sides:

According to the lengths of their sides, triangles can be classified into three types which are:

1)Scalene

2)Isosceles

3)Equilateral

Scalene Triangle

A scalene triangle has all side lengths of different measures. No side will be equal in length to any of the other sides in such a triangle. In a scalene triangle, all the interior angles are also different. The figure given below represents a scalene triangle.

Isosceles Triangle

In an isosceles triangle, the lengths of two of the three sides are equal. So, the angles opposite the equal sides are equal to each other. In Iscoless Triangle, there are two equal sides and two equal angles. The figure given below represents a Isosceles

Equilateral Triangle

In an equilateral triangle, all the lengths of the sides are equal. So all the angles of the equilateral triangle is equal to 60 degrees. The figure given below represents a Equilateral

Triangles based on their angles

According to their angles ,traingles can be classified into three types:

1)Acute

2)Obtuse

3)Right

Acute Triangle

A scalene triangle has all side lengths of different measures. No side will be equal in length to any of the other sides in such a triangle. In a scalene triangle, all the interior angles are also different. The figure given below represents a scalene triangle.

Obtuse Triangle

In an isosceles triangle, the lengths of two of the three sides are equal. So, the angles opposite the equal sides are equal to each other. In Iscoless Triangle, there are two equal sides and two equal angles. The figure given below represents a Isosceles

Right Triangle

In an equilateral triangle, all the lengths of the sides are equal. So all the angles of the equilateral triangle is equal to 60 degrees. The figure given below represents a Equilateral
