About Noise Pollution

Noise pollution, also known as environmental noise or sound pollution, is the propagation of noise with ranging impacts on the activity of human or animal life, most of them harmful to a degree. The source of outdoor noise worldwide is mainly caused by machines, transport, and propagation systems.

Sound waves are vibrations of air molecules carried from a noise source to the ear. Sound is typically described in terms of the loudness (amplitude) and the pitch (frequency) of the wave. Loudness (also called sound pressure level, or SPL) is measured in logarithmic units called decibels (dB).

Causes of Noise Pollution

It causes by the ManKind loud music, the television, people talking on their phone, the traffic, and even pets barking in the middle of the night: these have all but become a part of the urban culture, and they rarely disturb us.

Remidies

Honking in public places like teaching institutes, hospital, etc. should be banned.
In commercial, hospital, and industrial buildings, adequate soundproof systems should be installed.
Musical instruments sound should be controlled to desirable limits.
Dense tree cover is useful in noise pollution prevention.
Explosives should be not used in forest, mountainous and mining areas.
