LAKE WATER

The water in lakes comes from rain, snow, melting ice, streams, and groundwater seepage. Most lakes contain freshwater. All lakes are either open or closed. If water leaves a lake by a river or other outlet, it is said to be open. All freshwater lakes are open.

OIL WATER

So what happens when you try to mix oil and water? The water molecules attract each other, and the oil molecules stick together. That causes oil and water to form two separate layers. Water molecules pack closer together, so they sink to the bottom, leaving oil sitting on top of the water.

RADIOACTIVE WATER

Even more captivating to the affluent members of society was the introduction of radium water. According to a 1913 Tribune brief, the medicinal beverage was created by pouring water into an “earthenware receptacle” containing a small amount of radium, which eventually “charged” the water with emanations.

SEWAGE WATER

Sewage is wastewater released by homes, industries, hospitals, offices and other users. It also includes rainwater that has run down the street during a storm or heavy rain. The water that washes off roads and rooftops carries harmful substances with it. Sewage is a liquid waste.

SULLAGE WATER

Sullage is domestic wastewater other than that which comes from the toilet. It results from food preparation, personal washing, and washing of cooking and eating utensils and clothes. It is also called greywater (to distinguish it from blackwater which describes wastes containing human excrete).
